Take precautions when dealing with bloodborne & airborne pathogens! Droplets of moisture from an infected person’s cough or sneeze can remain airborne for several hours!
If blood or other potentially infectious material splash in your eyes or other mucous membranes:
- Flush the area with water for 20 minutes
- Wash exposed areas using soap and water
- Treat scabs & sores gently when cleaning your skin
- Report the exposure to your supervisor immediately
- Save potentially contaminated objects so they can be tested
- Get medical care as soon as possible
To protect against airborne pathogens:
- Wash your hands frequently
- Wear mask in crowded indoor areas with potential contamination
- Improve indoor ventilation
- Maintain physical distance
- Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
- Get vaccinated
